Willard Ervin Gehron, age 82, of North Star, OH, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2020, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH.

He was born February 27, 1938, in Darke County, OH, to Daniel & Anna (Gause) Gehron.

Willie married Karen Hoverman on December 27, 1959.  She survives, along with their four children: Michael (Christine) Gehron, Vandalia, OH, Christie (William J.) Rindler, North Star, OH, Deborah Stewart, Rossburg, OH, and Annette Shroyer, Willshire, OH.

Also surviving are eleven grandchildren: Kelli Simpkins, Jacksonville, FL, Stacie (Dustin) Cornwell, Dayton, OH, Nicole (Carlton) Maughan, San Antonio, TX, Beth Stewart, Rossburg, OH, William Rindler, Troy, OH, Mindy (Andy) Ooten, West Carrollton, OH, Danielle Gehron, Columbia City, IN, Faith Shroyer, Van Wert, OH, Chad Rindler, North Star, OH, Willard Shroyer, Willshire, OH, and Hope (Clint) Morgan, San Diego, CA, five great-grandchildren: Dillon Cornwell, Emma Ooten, Spencer Cornwell, Jackson Ooten and Bennett Maughan, sisters: Corda Leeper, North Star, OH and Margaret Miles, Greenville, OH, and a sister-in-law, Sharon (Farrel) Krall of Willshire, OH.

Preceding him in death were his parents: Dan & Anna Gehron, a sister: Berniece and her husband, Lewis Rhoades, a brother: Melvin and his wife, Marie Gehron, brothers-in-law: Tom Miles and Minor Leeper, a son-in-law: Jack Stewart, and his parents-in-law: Irene & Merl Hoverman.

A 1957 graduate of Versailles High School, Willie was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1958-1964.  During active duty, he was stationed at Schilling Air Force Base in Salina, Kansas as an aircraft refueling specialist.

Willie retired in 2000 from the Midmark Corp. in Versailles, OH, where he had worked as a welder and maintenance man, and he was a retired North Star Volunteer Fireman. 

He attended Greenville Missionary Church, and had been a member of the former North Star Congregational Christian Church.  Willie was an all-around Handyman, and enjoyed Woodworking, Camping, and Gardening.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 3rd, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, OH, with Reverend Gary Oser officiating.  Burial will follow at Willshire Cemetery in Willshire, OH.  

Calling Hours are 3-7:00 p.m., Monday, November 2nd, and before services on Tuesday, from 9-10:00 a.m., at the funeral home. 

Those attending are required to wear masks, practice social distancing as much as possible, and follow the COVID-19 guidelines established by Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health.
