Wayne R. Miller, age 67, of Mendon, passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
Born in Union Township on June 7, 1944, he was the son of the late W.I. "Ike" and Blanche (Ashbaugh) Miller.
Wayne married Pauline Hicks on May 23, 1964 and she survives along with two children: David (Lisa) Miller of Beavercreek, Ohio and Paula Miller of Dublin, Ohio and three grandchildren: Angela, Cara and Nicholas Miller of Beavercreek.
Also surviving are a brother and two sisters: Ray (Mae) Miller of Celina, Alice (Art) Henry of Goshen, IN and Betty Simons of Monroeville, IN, brothers and sisters-in-law: Wanda Mahaffey, Shirley Hicks, Phyllis & Everett Lauth, Bonita & Eric Welker, Eugene & Brenda Hicks and June & Denny Dorsten, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Wayne in death were a brother and sister-in-law: Glenn & Rosaleen Miller, a sister: Carol Lou Miller and a brother-in-law: Ronnie Simons.
He retired from Teleflex in Van Wert after 32 years, and was also a farmer.
Wayne was a graduate of Mendon-Union High School, where he was the Homecoming King. He previously had been a Webelos Leader, and assisted with summer baseball and softball coaching.
Throughout the years, Wayne enjoyed trap shooting, country dancing, woodworking, camping and canoeing. He also enjoyed his horse, Paco. He treasured his family, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, March 14th at The First Church of God, Mendon, with Rev. Dean Bruce and Pastor Randy Christian officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Mendon funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Tuesday, March 13th and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.
