Voneta E. "Susie" Quinter, Age 88, of Celina, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Heritage Manor Nursing Center in Minster.
She was born July 3, 1924 in Ft. Recovery, to Adam A. & Matilda F. (Hemmert) Quinter.
Surviving are a Brother: Louis (Alice) Quinter of Celina, and seventeen Nieces & Nephews.
Preceding her in death were 2 Brothers: Herman (Frederica) Quinter and Irenus "Mike" (Delphina) Quinter and 4 Sisters: Hilda Quinter, Marie Jutte, Marcella (Henry) Stelzer and Malinda (Clarence) Schlarman.
Susie retired from The Daily Standard in Celina, where she had been the Business Manager for over 40 years.
Seventy years ago, she graduated from Ft. Recovery High School,
where she had played basketball.
Susie was a very active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, its Prayer Chain,
and the Altar Rosary and St. Vincent de Paul Societies. She distributed Communion at area Nursing Homes and had worked at Bake Sales and Festivals for the Church. She donated many items to the annual I.C. Festival Auction, including furniture that she had refinished.
Susie's many hobbies and interests included walking, opera and music.
She traveled extensively - visiting all 50 States. An avid gardener, Susie raised a variety of fruits and vegetables. She enjoyed watching college football, and was very knowledgeable about the sport and its players.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 4 at Immaculate Conception Church. Father Ken Alt, C.PP.S., will preside.
Burial will follow at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Celina.
There will be no Calling Hours.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, to be used for Masses.
