She was born June 1, 1930, in St. Anthony, to August Sebastian & Catherine Louisa (Braun) Homan.  From a young age, Verena was raised by an Aunt and Uncle, Joseph & Mary Link, of Cassella.

Verena and Alvin J. "Peck" Goettemoeller were married on July 1, 1952, and he preceded her in death January 14, 2003.

Also surviving are a brother, James Homan, of Coldwater, 25 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, plus two on the way, and brothers & sisters-in-law: Jean Homan of Angola, Indiana,  Eugene Reinhart of Bryant, Indiana, Mildred Wuebker of St. Henry, Wilma Link of Fort Recovery, and George (Marlene) Minnich of Portland, Indiana.

Verena graduated from High School in Maria Stein.  She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Altar-Rosary Society.  She enjoyed sewing clothing, and was a talented seamstress.  Verena was a gardener, raised fruit trees, and made wonderful wines from grapes and dandelions.  She loved animals, particularly birds and dogs.

Verena would get a laugh before finishing a joke, because she always giggled and would forget the punch line. Verena was a homemaker, and assisted her husband with all aspects of the family farm. A faithful servant of God, Verena was devoted to her husband, children, and the farm.
