Sarah Coate Obituary

Sarah A. "Sally" Coate, age 58, died Sunday afternoon, July 10, 2011 at her residence in Celina.
Sally battled cancer for four years with grace and humor.

Born on March 20, 1953 in Defiance, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Patricia (Knott) Giesige.

Sally is survived by her husband, Jared L. "Jerry" Coate, whom she married on December 29, 1972.
Jerry and Sally are the parents of Two children: Heather (Kevin) Schmidt of Celina and Heath Coate of Grand Rapids, Michigan
and Two grandsons, Brenden
and Aidan Schmidt.

Also surviving are Six brothers: Douglas (Henrie) Giesige, David (Isabel) Giesige, Fred (Ann) Giesige, Greg (Sue) Giesige, Mark (Jean) Giesige and Tom (Sue) Giesige all of Celina, Three sisters: Mary Green of Lutz, FL, Marcia (Randy) Hamilton of Land O' Lakes, FL and Amy (Chris) Caggiano of Ft. Wayne, IN and Two brothers-in-law: George "Ike" (Kathy) Coate and Sam Coate, both of Celina.

Preceding Sally in death were an infant brother, Joseph, a brother-in-law, Bob Green and a sister-in-law, Terry Giesige.

Her main occupation was "Dad's Keeper". She was a wonderful homemaker and a talented decorative painter.

Garage sales were a favorite pastime for Sally. She was very creative and talented at decorating. She loved gardening and entertaining.

Sally had a tremendous sense of humor. She was noted for her themed parties, such as the "Full Moon" and "Leopard" and Halloween parties held for family and friends.

Sally was the original "Curbside Queen" and founder of the group
that reigned at the Celina Lake Festival Parade each year.

She was a 1971 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School.

Calling hours for friends and family will be held Wednesday, July 13 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina.


A Tribute to Sally's life will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 14 at the Immaculate Conception PAC Center, 412 N. Walnut St., Celina. (Please use Anthony St. Entrance)
Mark Giesige will preside, along with other family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Sally's memory may be made to State of the Heart Hospice or to the C.A.L.L. Food Pantry in Celina.
