Robert G. Fields, 51, of Mendon, OH
died Sunday, May 20, 2012 in Auglaize County, OH from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.
He was born October 11, 1960 in Ellwood City, PA. His Mother: Coral Eileen Alborn Fields, survives in Florida. His Father and Step-Mother: Emmanuel Ray & Mary Ann Fields, survive in Fombell, PA.
Survivors include: "The Love of his Life" - Connie Altenbach of Mendon;
A Son - Joshua (Kristin) Fields, Wind Gap, PA; 6 Brothers & Sisters: Ronald Ray (Brenda) Fields, Coshocton, OH; Donald C. Fields, Fombell, PA; Lori (Richard) Benton, Bartow, FL; Emmanuel "Manny" (Mandy) Fields, Lima; Joe (Cindy) O'Schea, New Brighton, PA and Jim (Louise) O'Schea of Ellwood City, PA and his Granddaughter - Megan Fields.
A Step-Mother: Irene Fields and A Step-Brother: Brian O'Schea preceded him in death.
Robert was employed by Jacobs Engineering, and was working as a scaffold builder/carpenter, contracted by the Husky Refinery in Lima, OH.
A U.S. Army Veteran, stationed in Panama, El Salvador and Vietnam. He
had been an Army Seal, Tactical Aircraft anti-war operations non-commissioned officer for combat arms and a Data Collector with the Joint Test Force. Awarded for devotion to duty and outstanding performance, Robert attained the rank of Sergeant, which reflected great credit upon himself.
He had attended Riverside High School in Ellwood City and then obtained his GED while in the service. A member of Carpenter's Union Local #372 OH / KY / IN, American Kennel Club Coon Hunters, V.F.W. Post #5713 in Celina, OH and the Freedom Team.
Connie was Robert's main interest, and he enjoyed animals and all types of hunting.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, May 24
at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, near Mendon, with Pastor Dave Wilson officiating.
Calling Hours are 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 23 at W.H. Dick & Sons - Hellwarth Funeral Home, Mendon.
