Ril T. Miller, age 85, passed away at 4:31 AM, Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater. A resident at the Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, he had formerly lived in Celina and Mendon.
Born August 16, 1925 in Mendon, he was the son of Alpha & Josephine (Murlin) Miller.
On November 13, 1944 in Annapolis, Maryland, Ril married Viola Mae Long. She passed away on February 13, 2008.
He is survived by Six Children:
Rosa VanGundy of Rockford, Linda (Ed) Frey of Ft. Wayne, IN, Ronald (Becky) Miller of Kokomo, IN, Randy (Shirley) Miller of Van Wert, Rebecca (Mike) Barber of St. Marys and Lori Heckert of Ashland, 20 Grandchildren and 33 Great Grandchildren.
Ril was preceded in death by
a Daughter: Deborah Sue Miller, who died December 25, 1968, Three Siblings and their Spouses: Dwight & Joan Miller, Clayton "KK" & Gladys Miller and Betty & Wayne Kennedy, an infant sister, Dorothy Jo Miller and a Son-in-Law: Gary Van Gundy.
A 1944 graduate of Mendon-Union High School, Ril served with the United States Navy in Annapolis. He was a farmer and had retired as a rural mail carrier in the Mendon area.
Ril was a member of the Montezuma Church of Christ and the Ohio Rural Letter Carriers Association.
Woodworking was a favorite hobby of Ril's, and he enjoyed making wooden rocking horses. Hunting and fishing were sports that Ril enjoyed, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren was a favorite pastime.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, July 20th at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina, with Reverend Kevin Neumann officiating.
Calling Hours are from 3-8:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 19th at the Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Mendon Cemetery, with graveside Military Rites by Celina American Legion Post #210 and VFW Post #5713.
