The Rev. Glenn E. Masser, age 82, of Venedocia, Ohio, joined the "Church Triumphant" as he met his Risen Lord on April 12, 2013 at Celina Manor in Celina, Ohio.
Rev. Masser was born November 3, 1930, to Leslie A. & Lillian M. (Whipp) Masser in Frederick County, Maryland.
He married Mary Grams Masser on June 14, 1953, and she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Robert E. (Peggy) Masser of Montrose, Michigan and Dr. Philip R. (Kelly) Masser of Celina.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mark A. Masser and brothers, Richard L. Masser and Leslie D. Masser and a sister, Lillian J. Masser Morrison.
Rev. Masser had nine grandchildren: Heather (Aaron) Cupp, Rachel (Karl) Bowsher, Sarah Masser, Emily (Dusty) Fleck, Laura (Orville) Bennett, Jeremy (Melanie) Masser, Brian (Rani) Masser and Brennen & Braelen Bader and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and enjoyed family time immensely.
A 1947 Graduate of Frederick High School in Maryland, Glenn left his beloved farm home to enter the ministry in 1951. He graduated from Findlay College and later studied at Winebrenner Seminary, also in Findlay.
"Pastor Glenn", as he was affectionately named by his parishioners, pastored a number of churches in three states. In Maryland, he served as pastor of Winfield First Church of God and the Indian Springs-Broadfording Churches. In Pennsylvania, he pastored at the Blue Rock and Congress Hill Churches of God. In Ohio, he pastored at Sugar Ridge Community Church, Mt. Pleasant, Madison-North Bridgewater and Mendon Churches of God. Lastly, he served as pastor of the Ross Church of the Brethren in rural Mendon, until 2008. He also served as a case manager for Mercer County Mental Health.
Pastor Masser will be honored for 60 years of service in the ministry at the Ohio Churches of God Conference in June. He had served on the Ministerial License and Ordination Board, and also on the Board of Trustees for Winebrenner Haven in Findlay.
A Veteran of the U.S. Army, he had served during the Korean Conflict at various bases in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, Waukegan, Illinois and Fort Lewis, Washington and in Alaska from 1954-1956.
An avid outdoorsman, Pastor Glenn enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 16th, at Mendon First Church of God, with Rev. Keith Stoller and Rev. Dean Bruce officiating. Burial will follow at Tomlinson Cemetery, near Mendon, with Graveside Military Rites by Celina American Legion Post #210 and VFW Post #5713.
Visitation Hours are from 4-8 P.M., Monday, April 15th at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the Church.
