Reverend Larry G. Fries, age 67, of Celina, passed away at 2:50 A.M., Saturday, September 10, 2011 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
Born November 22, 1943 in Piqua, the son of the late Charles Frederick Fries, Sr. and Jane (Kiser) Fries Campbell. His Step-father, Donald L. Campbell of rural Rockford survives.
Reverend Larry married Mary Kay (Gingrich) on October 3, 1969.
She survives him along with two daughters, Shawn Mescheal (Reverend Simon) Young of Piqua and Melissa Gail (Mark) Williams of Van Wert; a son, Larry Lamont (Erin) Shannon of Shakopee, MN, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild; three brothers,Charles F. (Sharon) Fries, Jr. of Piqua,
Rev. Robert L. (Phyllis) Fries of Sidney and Rev. Gregory M. (Patricia) Fries of Ft. Wayne; and a sister, Sharon R. (Gary) Arnold of International Falls, MN.
A veteran of the United States Air Force, he served at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
Reverend Fries was the founder and builder of the New Life Apostolic Church in Celina and served as Pastor there since 1979.
Prior to that, he served two years assisting at the Apostolic Church in Wabash, IN. He spent four years as a traveling Evangelist with the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ throughout the United States as well as Jamaica and the Bahamas. He also assisted with the building of Apostolic Churches in Piqua, Sidney, Troy and Ft. Wayne. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church International.
Reverend Fries was a first-class finish carpenter and worked for many years in the construction industry along with his pastoral duties. He was dedicated to his church, work and family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
He was known for his beautiful singing voice, loved music and playing the guitar. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, jeeping, motorcycling, and his dog Toby.
Calling Hours will be held at the New Life Apostolic Church on Grand Lake Road in Celina from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Wednesday, September 14th and 1 hour prior to services on Thursday. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, September 15th, with members of the Fries Family officiating.
Burial with military rites will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens,
Celina.
