Myron F. Hartings, age 81, of Mendon, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing at Shane Hill, Rockford.
He was born February 20, 1943, at Cranberry Prairie, to the late Joseph H. & Mary E. (Evers) Hartings.
On April 25, 1981, he was united in marriage with Patricia L. (Diegel). Patty survives, along with their children: Angela (Tom) Sampson of Fairborn, Bob Sheets of Mendon, and Jennifer (Mark) Schuller of St. Marys, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and his brother and sisters: Patsy Broerman of New Bremen, Betty Romer of St. Henry, and Linie (Carol) Hartings of Coldwater.
Also surviving are his son-in-law, Dave Guy, of Dayton, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Frieda Hartings of Celina, Reid (Deana) Diegel and Deborah McElroy of Houston, Texas, Hazel (Michael) Franklin of Ansonia, and Julie (Tim) Oechsle of St. Marys.
2 daughters: Lori Hartings and Julie Guy, brothers and sisters: Ernie Hartings, Lester & Dolores Hartings, Virgil Hartings, Virginia Hartings, Evelyn & Louis Bertke, and Thelma & Lawrence Broerman, brothers-in-law: Alfred Broerman, Jack Romer, Ganell P. Jr. "Jinks" Diegel, and Jim & Diane Diegel, and parents-in-law: Ganell P. Sr. & Irma (Osborne) Diegel, preceded him in death.
Myron was a graduate of St. Henry High School.
He had operated D&H Plumbing & Heating, and later served as a General Contractor, working as Maintenance Supervisor for all Mercer County Buildings, retiring in 2010.
Myron had been heavily involved with the restoration work done on the Mercer County Courthouse for its 100th Anniversary celebration in 2023.
He enjoyed refinishing furniture, and Myron was a big Notre Dame and Cleveland Browns fan.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 1st, at the Mendon Community Church, with Pastor Jake Boroff, officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.
Calling Hours are from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 31st, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Mendon, and an hour prior to services on Saturday, at Mendon Community Church.
