Mary Jane "MJ" Wint, age 80, of Celina, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Clarkston, Michigan.
She was born July 18, 1945, in Celina, a daughter of the late Aloys & Marcella "Sally" (Boeckman) Weitzel.
She married Robert "Bob" Wint on February 27, 1965, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina. Bob preceded her in death June 17, 2016.
Mary Jane moved many times with her husband, following his career in Celina or Van Wert, and later to White Lake, Michigan. In the Spring of 2005, they returned home to Celina.
Mary Jane is survived by her children: Leah (Don) Mattise of Clarkston, Michigan, Lisa Burnand of Cicero, Indiana and Spencer (Leslie) Wint of Burton, Michigan, and was the loving grandmother to her late granddaughter, Allison Burnand, and surviving grandchildren: Marissa (Dylan) Burnand Buchanan, Daniel Mattise, Dustin (Nicole) Mattise and Rylee Burnand, as well as great grandchildren: Emerson Burnand, Dakota Buchanan and Freydis Buchanan.
Also surviving are her siblings: JoAnne (Leroy) Felver, Rose Ann (Louis) Miller, David (Connie) Weitzel, Ralph (Susie) Weitzel and Judy (Mike) Hamberg, and many nieces & nephews.
Preceding her in death was a brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Bill & Mary Duane Wint and nephew, Rodney Wint.
She was a 1963 graduate of I.C. High School in Celina. Mary Jane was a homemaker, had worked as a newspaper ad agent, physical therapy aide, and retail assistant, and volunteered at her children’s schools. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Mary Jane was an avid reader and walker. She loved laughing, singing, and spending time with her sisters and brothers, especially playing cards and traveling. Creating moments with her grandchildren filled Mary Jane's heart abundantly with pure joy.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, May 15, at 11:00 AM, at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Lake Orion, Michigan, with Reverend Dr. William Promesso presiding. A luncheon and fellowship will follow the Mass service.
Mary Jane’s final resting place will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Celina.
Arrangements are being handled by Modetz Funeral Home of Orion Township Michigan, in collaboration with W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home of Celina.
