Loyd Brown Obituary

Loyd R. Brown, age 95, of Coldwater, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.

Born April 11, 1925, in Logansport, Indiana, he was a son of the late James H. and Eva Ralphy Brown.

Loyd and Marcella Marie Diller were married on August 21, 1952, and they shared 64 years of marriage before Marie's death on December 14, 2016.

Surviving are their five children: Carol (Doug) Hoffman of Hudsonville, Michigan, Jerald (Caroline) Brown of Nome, Alaska, Ruth (Bill) Dameron of Coldwater, Ohio, Jeffrey (Linda) Brown of Clare, Michigan, and Nancy Marie Brown Harris of Mount Pleasant, Michigan, 20 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife Marie, two grandchildren, and his brother, Robert Brown.

After graduating from High School, Loyd served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946.  He received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.

Loyd also graduated from the Biblical Seminary in New York, where he met his wife, Marie.  He and Marie studied in Belgium to learn teaching methods in the French language, and together they served 2 terms, teaching a total of 5 1/2 years in the missions of the Belgian Congo.  Loyd worked for many years as an Electrical Engineer at Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan.

While living in Midland, Loyd had been a member of Our Redeemer Church.  After relocating to Coldwater, he joined Grace Missionary Church in Celina, and later the Covenant Community Church in Coldwater.  Loyd was very active in the churches, serving in various capacities.

Over the years, Loyd had read the Bible completely through eleven times, in ten different English translations.  Loyd lived his life serving and walking with the Lord.  He felt it was very important to share the Word of the Lord, and encourage others to develop a personal relationship with Christ.

It was his desire that everyone know the Way to their Personal Salvation and come to Christ.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 27, at Covenant Community Church, 809 W. Main St., in Coldwater, with Pastor Eric Muhlenkamp, officiating.

After the Service, Military Rites will be conducted at the church by Coldwater American Legion Post #470, where Loyd was a member.

Burial will follow at the Evangelical Mennonite Cemetery, near Bluffton, Ohio.
