Kathleen S. Shirk

Kathleen Sue Shirk, age 60, of Celina, passed away at 12:43 A.M., Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Van Wert County Hospital.

Born on May 5, 1952, she was the daughter of the late William Kelly and Ruth (Ketrow) Kelly Schnack.

Kathy married Dennis R. Shirk on October 2, 1971 and he preceded her in death on July 29, 1994.

Surviving are a Daughter, Amanda (Charlie) Stucke and a Son, Willis (Joanie) Shirk and five Grandchildren, Kaden & Dane Stucke and Robert, Elijah and Isaac Shirk, all of Celina. A Brother, John Schnack survives in New Bremen and her Father-in-law, Robert Shirk survives in Celina.

Preceding Kathy in death were a Brother and Sister-in-law, Robert & Pam Kelly, her Mother-in-law, Violet Shirk, a Brother-in-law, Dane Shirk, and her Step-father, John Schnack.

A 1970 graduate of Celina High School, Kathy received a degree from Edison State College. She retired after 30 years of service as a case worker at Mercer County Job & Family Services. After retirement, she worked part-time as a teller at People's Bank in Celina.

Kathy loved to dance, and was a member of Moose Lodge #1473, Eagles Aerie #1291 and American Legion Post #210 Auxiliary, all of Celina.

Visitation Hours are Saturday, March 23rd, from 2 - 6 P.M. and one hour prior to services on Sunday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina.

Services will be held at the Funeral Home at 2 P.M., Sunday, March 24th, with the Rev. Jim Langham officiating.

Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, near Celina.
