Karen S. McMichael, age 72, of Mendon, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing at Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born August 24, 1952, in Celina, the daughter of the late John Arthur and Alice Eileen (Webb) Brown.
Karen and Galen E. McMichael were married on June 30, 1972. He survives, along with their daughter, Amy McMichael (Ryan Trisel) of Mendon. Their son, Kurt Allen McMichael, passed away July 13, 2013. Also surviving are sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Lynn Brown of Pueblo West, Colorado, Rudy & Carol McMichael of North Richland Hills, Texas, Sheryl Ellis of Mendon, and Laurie McMichael Collender of Middletown, Delaware.
Karen's brother, Jerry Brown, also preceded her in death, along with brothers-in-law: Craig McMichael and Jerry “Eli” Ellis, and her parents-in-law: Stanley & Minnie Ann McMichael.
A graduate of Mendon-Union High School, Karen went on to attend Ohio State Beauty Academy in Lima. She owned and operated Karen's Style Station in Mendon for 20 years, and she and Galen were co-owners of Mendon Auto Sales.
Karen served as a Boy Scout Leader and an Advisor for the Mendon Blue Ribbon 4-H Club. She had volunteered with the Animal Protection League of Mercer County.
Karen loved horses and dogs, and had fostered dogs in her home. She enjoyed many types of crafts, including painting and stained glass and jewelry making.
Calling Hours are being held at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Mendon, on Thursday, March 27, from 12:30 to 2:30 PM. Funeral Services will follow at 2:30, with Pastor Randy Christian, officiating.
Burial will take place at Mendon Cemetery.
