Joyce Ann Shively, age 86, of rural Celina, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025, at her residence.
She was born December 14, 1938, in New Corydon, Indiana, a daughter of the late Ralph & Idora (Luttman) Schott.
Joyce and Donald Owen "Doc" Shively were married on December 14, 1957. Doc preceded her in death July 20, 2020, and their eldest daughter, Debra A. "Debbie" Maxwell, passed away on June 6, 2003.
Joyce is survived by daughters: Diane (Edward) Neargarder of St. Marys, Dawn (William) Jaggers of Syracuse, Indiana, and Della Shively of Celina, 7 grandchildren: John, April, Adam, Melanie, Tyler, Heath and Sydney, many great grandchildren, and her son-in-law: Sheldon Maxwell of Portland, Indiana.
She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Dale Shively of Portland, many nieces & nephews, and special friends she considered as family: Kevin & DeAnna Geiger, Mike & Brenda Robinson, Bob & Julie Vantilburg, and other close friends too numerous to count.
Preceding Joyce in death were her sister, Clara Schott Luginbill and brother-in-law, Kenny Luginbill, and Doc's sisters: Ruth Jenkins, Mary Weisman, Wanda Byrum and Vivian Joan Shively.
Joyce was first of all, a Homemaker and Mother. Over the years, she had held multiple jobs - working for WCSM Radio, the Bi-Rite Store, Celina Truck & Tractor, and Triangle Services. Joyce was very loving and caring, and took wonderful care of several people in their last days. She had also owned and operated D & J Repair, along with her husband, Doc.
She attended Beaver Chapel Congregational Christian Church, near Celina. Joyce had helped with the Celina Harvest Festival.
Joyce and Doc attended area Antique Tractor events and Flea Markets, where they showed their "hit and miss" engines, antique tractors, and sawmill. She also enjoyed antiquing. Joyce loved to make jewelry, which she sold, and also gifted to family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 5, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, with Rev. Tom Christen, officiating.
Burial will take place at Swamp College Cemetery, near Celina.
Calling Hours are from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 4, and 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday, at the Funeral Home.
