Josephine Evans Vantrees, age 86, of Ft. Recovery, died Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.
Born on March 30, 1925 in Zona, West Virginia, Josephine was the daughter of Roma J. and Belva (Brabham) Evans. She married John A. Evans and he preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons: John C. (Karen) Evans of Sebring, Paul Robert (Jayne) Evans of Ft. Recovery and Jeff (Pam) Evans of Xenia, Two daughters: Karen (Joe) Cannistra of Youngstown and Rosemary "Posie" Moser of Coldwater, two brothers: Roma Jr. (Wavalene) Evans of Geneva, IN and Harold Evans of Phoenix, AZ, four sisters: Dolly Thien of Ft. Recovery, Charlene (Bob) Urpman of Phoenix, AZ, Eileen Evans of Ansonia and Maxine Reynolds of Greenville. Seventeen grandchildren and thirty three great grandchildren also survive.
Preceding Josephine in death were a son, David Charles Evans, two brothers, Orville and Jack Evans and a sister, Violet Evans.
Josephine was a homemaker and attended Ft. Recovery United Methodist Church. She was a Charter member of the Ft. Recovery VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Ft. Recovery American Legion. Josephine enjoyed gambling.
Private Services will be held for the family.
Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery, Ft. Recovery.
