John J. Hinders, Age 86, of Celina
passed away Tuesday, July 19
at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton.
Born May 30, 1925 in Celina,
he was the son of Judge Homer J. & Emma Louise ( Pax ) Hinders.
He married Jean Elaine Reny on September 16, 1950, and she died December 15, 1964. He married Virginia A. Gabriel on April 16, 1966, and she survives.
He is also survived by his 9 Children: Margaret Hinders ( Tom Zuk ) of Hoboken, NJ, Andrew ( Henni ) Hinders of Celina, Joan ( Eric ) St. Peter of Bar Harbor, ME, Elizabeth ( Gary ) Zolton of Tallmadge, Mary ( Mark ) Koenig of Copley, Ann ( Tom ) Williamson of Fishers, IN, Julia ( Doug ) Zehner of Silver Spring, MD, Peter ( Lana ) Hinders of Celina and Christina ( Bill ) Isaacs of Rochester, MI; 2 Brothers: Urban ( Doris ) Hinders of Kettering & Reverend Joseph Hinders of Columbus; 3 Sisters: Mary Rutledge of Englewood, Marita ( Gene ) Pitstick of Akron and Louise Hinders of Celina; 22 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant Sister: Margaret, A Grandchild and a Brother-in-law: Dick Rutledge.
John was an Attorney, and had practiced law in Celina for over 40 years; first with his father, Homer J. Hinders from 1950-1959, from 1959-1972 with Mark Klosterman, had a solo practice from 1972-1981, then practiced with his son Andrew from 1981-1993, when he retired.
He had attended Brunnerdale Seminary in Canton, St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, IN and graduated from Catholic University of America Law School in Washington, DC.
John served as a Sargeant in the U.S. Army, serving during WWII. He had been a Boy Scout Leader, a Veterans Service Officer for Mercer County and was a member of the Celina Knights of Columbus Council #1800.
A lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church in Celina, John had served on the Parish Council and the Immaculate Conception School Board.
A Memorial Mass was held at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 22, 2011
at Immaculate Conception Church, Celina. Reverend Ken Schnipke and, the Reverend Joe Hinders (John's brother) presided. The Mass was concelebrated by 6 other priests. Burial was at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Celina.
