Joan attended Rockford United Methodist Church, and was extremely active in the church.  She served as secretary of the Women's group and the administrative board.  She chaired the annual chicken barbecue dinner and auction, and the ice cream social, and headed the funeral dinner committee.  Joan assisted with the Wednesday night Kid's Klub, and served at the annual Community Christmas Dinner held at the Community Building in Rockford.

Joan was a great cook and baker.  Her love of the kitchen lead her to cake decorating and making beautiful cakes for birthdays, graduations, and weddings.

She enjoyed traveling, especially trips to Disney, and collecting seashells in Florida with her grandsons.  Spending time on the lake, boating, and fireworks were some other favorite activities.  Joan also liked to play cards, especially Euchre, with family and friends.
