Janet M. Pond

Janet Marion Pond, age 81, of rural Rockford, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2012 at Van Wert County Hospital.

Born on April 4, 1931 in Dublin Township, she was the daughter of the late Willard Charles and Helen Geneva (Counterman) Hays.

Married William B. Pond on August 27, 1949, and he preceded her in death on February 20, 2011.

Surviving are a son: Ken (Carla) Pond of Rockford, and two daughters: Joan (Brad) Glass of St. Marys and Jennifer (Scott) Ralston of Rockford. Janet was a grandmother to six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A sister: Lois Jean (Jack) Powell of Rockford, also survives.

Preceding her in death were a brother: Paul Hays, a sister: Joann Now, and a grandson: Joshua Ralston.

Janet was a 1949 graduate of Rockford High School. She was a member of the Mercer United Methodist Church and the Mercer United Methodist Women's Society.

A homemaker, Janet was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and quilting. Janet LOVED the sun, birds, and flowers, and reading while sitting in her rocking chair.

Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 10th
at Mercer United Methodist Church in Mercer. Rev. Marvin Schwartz will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Friends may call from 1-4 P.M., Sunday, December 9th at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina and from 10-11 A.M. on Monday at the church.
