Hope L. Nevergall, age 93, formerly of rural Mendon and had currently been residing in rural Rockford, died at 3:00 A.M., Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
Born September 3, 1918 in Mercer County, Ohio, Hope was the daughter of the late Henry & Emma (Aufderhar) Suhr.
She married George Nevergall on October 18, 1941 and he died August 30, 1988.
Surviving family members are
A Son: Hal Nevergall of Celina and
Two Daughters: Ann Golden of Tiffin and Karla (Bruce) Fent of Rockford. Four Grandchildren: Aaron (Abigal) Fent, Andrew Fent, Kylee Fent & Kara (Robert) Frazier and
a Great Granddaughter: Emma Fent.
Preceding Hope in death were: An Infant Son: Roger, A Son-in-law: Tony Golden, Six Brothers: Edward, Lee, Ernest, Robert, Paul & Joseph Suhr and Four Sisters: Anna Coats, Fern Hines, Lela Coats & Mae Suhr.
During her childhood, Hope attended the Bethel School in rural Mendon and later graduated from Center Township High School in Neptune.
Hope was a homemaker and had worked at the former Winter Co. in Celina during WWII, sewing dungarees for soldiers in the Navy, and later made jackets.
She had been a member of the former Charity Union Friends Church in rural Mendon.
An avid gardener along with her husband George, Hope enjoyed canning. She was a skilled pianist and quilter. Crocheting, cooking and baking were also favorite pastimes of Hope's. She also enjoyed word finds and watching horse shows and draft horse hitch teams.
Visitation will be held 2-4 & 6-8:00 P.M., Thursday, October 27th and from 9:30 until time of services Friday, October 28th at W.H. Dick & Sons - Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina.
Services are 10:30 A.M., Friday, October 28th at W.H. Dick & Sons - Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, near Celina.
