Eileen Severns

Eileen Severns, age 82, of Mendon, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2019, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.

She was born January 28, 1937, in Mercer County, the only child of the late David Clarence & Mabel Josephine (Grossnickle) Crider.

Eileen and Jimmy R. Severns were married on April 28, 1957, and he preceded her in death on November 5, 2011.

Surviving are their son & daughter-in-law: Carl and Marsha Severns of Mendon, a grandson, Matt Bretz, three great grandchildren: Jordan Bretz, Isiah Bretz and Brittney McCoy, and four great-great grandchildren: Addison Bretz, Novalee Mies, Grayson Bretz and Waylon Mies.

Eileen was preceded in death by a son, Rickey Dean Severns in 1978, a great-granddaughter, Alissa Rose Bretz in 1995, and brothers & sisters-in-law: Ruth Ida Roller, Janice Engle, Eugenia Archer and Joe Severns. 

She attended Mendon United Methodist Church.  Eileen was employed at National Seal in Van Wert for 10 years, and was a member of Bowersock Brothers V.F.W. Post #6772 Ladies Auxiliary in Spencerville.

Eileen enjoyed being a member of the Mendon Craft Club, painting, quilting, and making noodles for fundraising at the church.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, August 5, at the Mendon United Methodist Church.  Pastor Randy Christian will officiate. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery. 

Calling Hours are 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 4, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Mendon, and an hour prior to time of services on Monday, at the church.
