Edward McGillvary Obituary

Edward McGillvary, age 74, of Celina, died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at his residence.

He was born July 13, 1937 in Mendon, to the late Orville & Dorothy Skinner McGillvary.

Ed and the former Judy Huwer were married on October 6, 1962, and she passed away on August 24, 2002.

Surviving are A Son: Brett ( Stacy ) McGillvary of Celina, 3 Daughters: Deborah McGillvary of Celina, Brenda ( Jeff ) Severns of Mendon and Susie ( Dave ) Staugler of Celina, A Brother: Montie ( Carole ) McGillvary of Mendon, A Sister: Betty McGillvary of Celina, 7 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

His Mother & Father-in-law: Vera & Lester Huwer, preceded him in death.

Until 1996, Ed had been Co-Owner of the chain of Empire Family Restaurants, then owned and operated the Empire Restaurant in Celina.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958, and was a Graduate of
Mendon-Union High School. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #5713 and
Moose Lodge #1473, of Celina and Shanes Masonic Lodge #377, of Rockford.

Ed has donated his body to the Anatomical Gift Program at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.

Calling Hours will be held at W.H. Dick & Sons - Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 4, followed by Funeral Services at 6:30 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Pastor Randy Christian will officiate.

Memorial Contributions in Ed's memory may be made to State of the Heart Hospice or the V.F.W. Relief Fund.
