Doris J. Freeman, age 85, of Antwerp, formerly of Celina, passed away Monday, June 10, 2019, at Hickory Creek at Hicksville.
She was born July 30, 1933, in Lima, to the late Mitchell L. & Eunice (Miller) Dyer.
Doris and Alvin Dale Freeman were married on June 9, 1951, at the First Church of God in Celina, with Rev. Paul Tewell officiating. Alvin preceded her in death on March 13, 1984.
Surviving are their daughter and son: Deb (Rex) Gloor and Terry (Deb) Freeman of Hicksville, five grandchildren: Jenna (Larry) DuBose, Nicole (Mike) Gerhardt, Sara Gloor (Rachel Stollman), Erin (Justin) Roush, and Megan (Jhirmichael) Cooper, and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Yahl.
Doris had worked as a cook at Vagabond Village, Yoder's Restaurant, and Hickory Hills Golf Course, all in the Hicksville area.
She was an avid gardener, and an excellent cook and seamstress. Doris served as an advisor for the Green Valley 4-H Club for several years.
Private Funeral Services will be held at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Memorial Donations may be directed to the Defiance Hospice.
