Dennis Eichenauer Obituary

Dennis L. Eichenauer, age 76, of rural Celina, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Mercy Health - St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

He was born February 2, 1948, in Celina, to the late Kenneth E. and Luella A. (Hellwarth) Eichenauer.

Denny and Beverly Ables Eichenauer were married on July 10, 1971, and Bev preceded him in death on March 12, 2013.

He is survived by their daughter and son-in-law: Becky and Dusty Weitzel, three grandchildren: Katie (Jordan) Rodriguez, Emily Weitzel and Carson Weitzel, great-grandson, Jack Rodriguez and great-granddaughter, Mabel Rodriguez, all of Celina.

Also surviving are his brother and sister-in-law: Calvin and Carolyn Eichenauer of Wabash, Indiana, in-laws: Trish Simonton of Mason and Jim Ables of Blanchester, as well as nieces and nephews.

Denny was preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie Lynn Eichenauer Hendricks, who died May 12, 2022, parents-in-law: Jimmy and Gaynelle Potter Ables, and a brother-in-law: Randy Ables.

A 1966 graduate of Celina Senior High School, Denny had served in the Army National Guard.  He was a member of Grand Lake United Methodist Church - St. Paul’s Campus, in Celina.

A lifelong farmer in Hopewell and Jefferson Townships, Denny absolutely loved being outdoors and in the fields.  Denny was the owner-operator of Eichenauer Farms and Construction.  When not in the fields, Denny and his son-in-law, Dusty, were busy on many building projects in the local area.

Work was his life, but he also reserved time for family.  For nearly 45 years, Denny took a week-long annual vacation to Florida, spending quality time with the whole family.  He also focused on attending his grandchildren's events, rarely missing a game.  His family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were everything to him.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 15, at Grand Lake United Methodist Church - St. Paul’s Campus, 119 E. Fulton St., in Celina, with Pastor Mick Whistler officiating.

Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.
