David Embry Obituary

 
David Richard Embry, age 82, of Celina, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at his residence.
 
He was born March 22, 1939, in Urbana, Illinois, to Carl & Hilda (Ruhl) Embry.
 
David and Teresa Godfrey were married on November 5, 2005.  She survives, along with his children: Jeff (Cindy) Embry, Jon (Mary) Embry, and Paula Embry, all of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Patricia (Mike) Embry of North Carolina, and step-children: Jennifer Davis of Arizona and Michael Huston (Heather Sloane) of Celina.
 
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and Teresa's sisters: Loretta (Mike) Knatz of St. Marys, Zelda (Rex) Zizelman of Celina, and Kathy (Willis) Fortner of West Virginia. 
 
Preceding him in death were Teresa's father, Zina "Dewey" Godfrey, who died March 26, 2005, her mother, Junie, who passed away on Teresa and David's wedding day November 5, 2005, and her sister and brothers: Dinah Walls, Tonnie Godfrey, Woody Godfrey, and James Godfrey.
 
After serving in the U.S. Navy for 6 years, David was a Police Officer for 9 years, worked as a Longshoreman in Norfolk, Virginia for 32 years, and had also managed condos in Virginia Beach.
 
David enjoyed fishing, mowing, playing cards - especially the Phase 10 Card Game, Wii Bowling, listening to Country Music, and pitching Horseshoes.
 
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, January 15, starting at 2:00 p.m., to be held at VFW Post #5713, 1118 W. Logan St., in Celina.  The event will begin with Military Rites at 2:00, to be conducted by members of the Celina VFW, along with Celina American Legion Post #210.
