Clifford Howick "Howdy" Garwick, age 79, of rural Mendon, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
He was born September 3, 1933 in Van Wert. His Father: Clifford E. Garwick, Mother: Maxine (Clover) Garwick Putman, and Step-Father: Robert E.L. Putman, are deceased.
Howdy and Dorothy E. (Bair) were married in 1952, and she survives,
along with their daughter, Sherry Davis (Dan Gabriel) of Celina.
Their son, Scott R. Garwick, passed away on August 13, 2012.
In 1951, Howdy began working at The Daily Standard in Celina, where he
retired as the Assistant Shop Foreman. He was a member of The National Rifle Association (NRA) and Grand Lake Beagle Club, and liked to hunt and fish.
An accomplished self-taught artist, Howdy enjoyed painting in oils and watercolors, doing charcoal drawings, and creating detailed carvings with metal and wood. He gave away most of his artwork, but sold a few pieces over the years.
Calling Hours are from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, April 25 at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, MENDON. There will be No Funeral Service.
