Cletus J. Gariety, age 94, of Celina, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
Born on September 10, 1916 in Newport, Ohio, Cletus was the son of Frank Henry and Grace Elizabeth (Miller) Gariety.
He married Helen Burton, who
died in 1992.
Surviving family members are a son and his wife, Pat & Patti Gariety of Celina, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a son, Michael Gariety, a daughter, Brenda Yaney and his siblings, Agnes Gariety, Francis J. Gariety, Leonard J. Gariety,
Ruth Catherine Gariety, Lloyd James Gariety, Irene Catherine Gariety and Mildred Mary Gariety Bernholt.
Cletus was a United States Army Veteran of WWII, having served in North Africa and a member of the Celina Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5713.
He had worked as a truck driver for Thermogas and was an inspector for 27 years in the quality control department at Huffy Bicycles in Celina.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 21st at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, with a prayer service by the Celina VFW and American Legion at 7:00 P.M.
Friends may also call 1 hour prior to the Funeral Service, which will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 22nd at the Funeral Home, with Pastor Matt Overman officiating.
Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina, with military honors by Celina VFW Post #5713 and American Legion Post #210.
