Charlene Gayle Smith "Charlie", age 65, of Tehachapi, California, and recently of Mendon, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, with her family by her side.
She was born October 27, 1955, in Bakersfield, California, to Charlie T. "Tom" and Juanita Vestal Wall.
"Charlie" married Jon Vincent Smith in July 2001, and he survives in Mendon.
Surviving are their children: Alicia (Carlos) Hernandez and Farrah (Coby) Shumay, of Tehachapi, Clifford "Kalup" (Desiree) Quinton of Harker Heights, Texas, Vincent (Kelly) Smith of Mendon, Angelika (Tim) Bohanna of Topeka, Kansas, and Duane Smith and Jon Smith, both of Corpus Christi, Texas.
22 grandchildren survive, including: Desiree, Jessica, Maile, Aubrie, Gabbie, Malayzah, Brendan, Kristin, Cordin, Taylor, Christopher, Gavin, Patrick, Katilyn, Miranda, Taylor, Tyler, Brianna and Abigail, 13 great grandchildren, and siblings: Debbie Wall LaClair, of South Carolina, Keith Wall and Larry Wall of Washington, and Will Wall of Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Wall and a daughter, Christina Smith.
Charlene was a registered nurse in the Tehachapi area and had been a traveling nurse. She had attended Highland Community College and graduated from Kansas State University.
An amazing mother and grandmother, "Charlie" loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and having monthly dinners with the family. She particularly enjoyed RV travel, camping, and fishing. She was an avid reader, and was very devoted to her rescue dogs, "Baby" and "Pretty".
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 27, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina. Pastor Jake Boroff will officiate. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.
Calling Hours are before services on Sunday, from 12 Noon until 2 p.m., at the Funeral Home in Celina.
