Rural Celina resident, Betty Jenkins, age 85, passed away at 9:00 A.M., Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Laurels of Shane Hill Nursing Home, Rockford.
Born in Mercer County on August 30, 1925, Betty was the daughter of Virgil S. and Lollie May (West) Monroe.
She married Bevan Jenkins on January 22, 1946 and he died February 24, 2008. Bevan and Betty were the parents of a daughter, Marjorie L. Jenkins, who preceded them in death on June 24, 2000.
Also preceding her in death were six brothers: Paul Ernest, Orval Emery, Willis Daniel, Twins Jacob F. & James W. and Harry Lowell Monroe and Two sisters: Thelma Velma Kile and Inez Bernice Howell.
Betty is survived by a sister-in-law, Viola Wells of Waco, TX and close friends.
Betty was a homemaker and a member of the Beaver Chapel Congregational
Christian Church near Celina. She had been active with the American Legion Women's Auxiliary while living in the Dayton area.
Calling hours are from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 16, 2011 at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina. Reverend Tom Christen will officiate. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
