Thomas Edward Muhlenkamp, age 80, of rural Rockford, gave up his fight to stay with us on October 26, 2018, at St. Rita’s Heart Health in Lima.
He was born September 28, 1938, in Geneva, IN, the son of the late Charles J. “Carl” & Lucile A. ( Spangler ) Muhlenkamp.
Tom married Nancy Krotzer on June 9, 1973, and she survives, along with a son, Thomas ( Amy ) Muhlenkamp of Houston, OH, daughter, Julie Huddleston of Columbus, step-sons: Kenneth ( Donna ) Link of Mendon, Terry ( Rosemary ) Link of Auburn, IN, and Randy ( Trish ) Link of Celina, and sisters: Rose Dirksen of Greenville and Joan ( Larry ) Hesson of North Star.
Also surviving are ten grandchildren and many great grandchildren, as well as an uncle, Carl ( Velma ) Spangler and brother-in-law, Norman Alt, both of St. Henry.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Alt, who was waiting for him in Heaven.
Tom was a 1956 graduate of Mendon-Union High School, and served with the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Rockford.
Many knew Tom for his love of horses and goats. For years, he had the only Grade A goat dairy in the state of Ohio, of which he was very proud. Tom was a hard working man, milking over 150 head of goats every day, while maintaining full-time employment off the farm.
Tom had worked for Mercer Landmark at Rockford and Ohio City. His last job was working for John Sites at the Neptune Elevator, finally retiring at the age of 75 !
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 2nd, at Immaculate Conception Church in Celina. Fr. Vince Wirtner, C.PP.S. will preside.
Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina, with military rites to be conducted by Celina American Legion Post #210 and VFW Post #5713.
Visitation is from 4:00 - 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 1st, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina.
Memorial Contributions may be made to The Center for Neurological Development in Burkettsville.
