Ruth Idajean "Jean" Bates, age 87, of Celina, died February 5, 2011 at Coldwater Community Hospital.

Born on December 22, 1923, in St. Mary's, Jean was the daughter of the late William A. Bates and Ruth (Shelich) Bates.

Jean was preceded in death by Patricia Ann Bates, sister and Mary Ellen Bury, half-sister.

Jean worked at Stokely Van Camp of Celina from 1949-1970 and retired from C.B.S. Automotive of Celina, where she worked from 1970-1990.

Jean was a 1941 graduate of Celina High School. She was a member of Celina First Church of God. She was an avid golfer and a member of Northmoor Country Club.

Visitation was held from 11-1pm and funeral at 1pm at W.H. Dick & Sons - Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina, with burial following at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Mary's, on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, with Reverend Richard Van Horn officiating.
