Rose Marie Browder, age 83, of Indianapolis, formerly of Celina, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2019, at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis.
She was born October 25, 1935, in Celina, to the late Harry & Floraetta (Place) Browder.
Rose is survived by a brother and two sisters, Harry Browder Jr. of Versailles, Gertrude Gehle of Piqua, Vivian Coats of Celina, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were an infant sister, Lonnie Jo Browder, two brothers: Paul (Linda) Browder and John Browder, a sister-in-law, Marge (Mrs. Harry) Browder, and brothers-in-law, Louis Gehle and Vernon Paul Coats Sr.
Rose served with the WAVES in the U.S. Navy from May 1957 to February 1961. After leaving the Navy, she was employed at the Barr Company 5 & 10 Cent Store in Celina until 1966. She moved to Indianapolis, working until 1981 at the Wesleyan Church Headquarters. Rose then worked for Canterbury Village - Beverly Corporation from 1982 to 2001, when she transferred to the Continental Convalescent Nursing Center.
In 1962, Rose received certification from the Health Care Institute as a Nurses Aide in the State of Indiana. She completed training as a Qualified Medications Aide at Indiana Vocational Technical College in 1988. Rose enjoyed traveling, her most memorable trip was in 2001, going from Washington D.C. to Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Since 1966, Rose attended the Central Wesleyan Church in Indianapolis. She taught preschool classes, and volunteered with the after school homework project at the church. She also volunteered at summer camp for the Shepherd Community Church. Rose's biggest blessing was working with children through the church. Serving God was the love of her life.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 26th, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina. Pastor Darrel Herring will officiate.
Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, with graveside military rites to be conducted by Celina VFW Post #5713 and American Legion Post #210.
Calling Hours are from 10:00 until the time of services on Saturday, October 26th.
