Doris A. Severns, age 85, of Mendon, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 12, 2018, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
Born March 13, 1933, in Mercer County, she was a daughter of the late Harry O. & Salome F. (Schmidt) Robbins.
Doris and Joe F. Severns were married on June 3, 1954, and he preceded her in death on June 20, 2002. Surviving are their four children: Terrie Crouch, Randy (Pam) Severns, Jeff (Brenda) Severns and Chris (Randy) Flores - all of Mendon.
Also surviving are 10 grandchildren: Deanna Arnett, Josh Crouch, Cody Severns, Jessica Sheets, Courtney Vook, Cassie Schmidt, Tony Heckler, Jordan Heckler, Amber Howell and Kayle Heckler, 23 great-grandchildren, and sisters-in-law: Dolores Robbins of Celina and Eileen Severns of Mendon.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Dan Crouch, six brothers & sisters: Evon Robbins, Fay Robbins, Margaret Hawkey, Lloyd Robbins, Junior Robbins and Robert Robbins, and Joe's brother & sisters: Eugenia Archer, Ruth Ida Roller, Jimmy Severns and Janice Engle.
After 30 years of service, Doris retired from Reynolds+Reynolds in Celina. She and her husband Joe owned and operated the Kozy Korner Restaurant in Mendon for 30 years. Doris had also worked a few years for the late Dr. Gunter Lamm at his office in Mendon.
Doris was a 1951 graduate of Celina High School. She was a member of Mendon United Methodist Church, and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Family was very important to Doris. She loved spending time with them, and they visited her faithfully.
She was a wonderful cook and baker. She was known for her pie baking skills, and also her cookies and homemade candy. For years, she made batches of candy at Christmastime, which she shared with customers at the restaurant.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 17, at the Mendon United Methodist Church, with Pastor Rob Glenn officiating. Burial will follow at Tomlinson Cemetery in Union Township.
Calling Hours are from 2:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 16, and an hour prior to time of services on Tuesday, at Mendon United Methodist Church.
Memorial Contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice Care or Mendon United Methodist Church.
